Based on subtle combinations of Delta blues, jazz, western folk, Celtic music, and North African blues, Najma explores the universal language of the blues as it resonates with her Indian-British roots.
WOMAD favourite Najma, who has sung with Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, Andy Summers, Jethro Tull, and many others, will be playing songs from her new album ‘Five Rivers’.
It’s a musical journey that starts in India with the Ganges, going on to Africa’s River Niger, to the UK with the River Thames, on to Ireland with the River Shannon and ending at the Mississippi Delta. Expect some unexpected cover versions along the way.
