Reiki Healing and Thai Yoga Massage with Alex at The Yoga Barn

Reiki healing

Reiki is a complimentary holistic therapy in which the practitioner gently places hands on or over the receiver’s body to facilitate his/her process of healing. Reiki can be offered anywhere but ideally, in a quiet and comfortable environment where the receiver can lie or sit down (fully clothed).

Reiki is a safe and restorative energy therapy that can benefit adults, children, mothers-to-be, babies, animals and spaces. Some of these benefits include: a deep sense of inner calm and balance, deep relaxation, a meditative state of mind, vibrant energy and renewed vitality.

The Japanese word ‘Reiki’ literally translates as universal life force energy. This system of healing was developed by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century

Thai Yoga Massage

‘ Traditional Thai Massage has its roots in the Indian systems of Yoga and Ayurveda. Thai Yoga Massage is a holistic therapy where the human being is seen and treated as an ever-changing network of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects that all influence each other. Its primary aim is to restore and balance the body’s energy system which comprises of a multitude of energy lines that run through the body. The vital life force that is called Prana in Sanskrit, Chi in Chinese and Ki in Japanese, travels through these meridians, supplying the body with energy that is vital for its healthy functioning. Due to physical or emotional trauma, bad posture or harmful habits and beliefs this energy can get trapped or blocked, causing physical and emotional dis-ease. Thai Yoga Massage with its amazing multitude of techniques and adjustments can release these blockages, bringing the body back to its natural equilibrium where balance and wellbeing are present.

The benefits of Thai Yoga Massage are countless. By freeing the flow of vital energy in the body, Thai Yoga Massage can improve posture, breathing, flexibility, digestion and circulation. Muscles are stretched, inner organs toned and emotional and nervous tension is reduced. A deep sense of peace and relaxation can be experienced during and after a treatment.’ (adapted with respect from Mudita School of Thai Yoga Massage)
